about

Beginning with a soft yet energetic piano ostinato, Drexler’s “Blossoms” gently builds in a wash of ambient guitars, delicate string harmonics, and reverberant bells. The tone is part optimistic, part melancholic, creating a beautiful brooding atmosphere that is equally introspective and inspiring. The textural elements and distinctive use of instruments layer up into a final release as warped vocals meet field recordings of a creek in Japan—a nice personal fingerprint and unique touch.

“Blossoms” is the first single from Drexler’s upcoming LP, “Handles”, a record that musically dialogues on the recurring theme of how light is able to emerge, survive, and even thrive in darkness. This overarching theme is also at the core identity of “Blossoms”, and is subtly illustrated by the wrestling ambience and melodic interplay. In Drexler’s own words, “This track bubbles and simmers, slowly and gently building towards this ending that feels positive but tainted by the falling soundscapes that surround the piano and strings.”
